Contexts

This context section is provided to help you improve your Global Awareness. If you have taken the GAPtest, you have been directed to this page for basic interpretation of your score, which is explained below.

Interpreting Your GAPgraph

Look at this sample graph:

The ideal score and graph is 18 per context section. Your score is superimposed over the class average–to give you an idea of how compare with your classmates. The important idea is for you to look at where you have gaps in your awareness of a context. So for example in the profile above you will see the student scored well on Socio-Economics (SOE=18) but did not score as high on the Environment (ENV=10) which was the average for the class. You will want to set some learning goals to improve your awareness in the areas of your lowest scores. In the example above the student began to work on improving his/her awareness of the environment and geography.

I suggest the best way to do this is to travel and to take a survey course in this discipline. This is not always possible but can be a long range learning goal. A second option is to establish a learning strategy that includes reading, viewing, and relationship building.

Below, I have provided what I consider to be the best general books on a particular context, along with websites and films or documentaries. These will be updated regularly.
