Regions
This area or geographical section is provided to help you improve your Global Awareness. If you have taken the GAPtest, you have been directed to this page for basic interpretation of your score, which is explained below.
Interpreting Your GAPgraph
Look at this sample graph:
The ideal score and graph is 18 per geographical section. Your score is superimposed over the class average–to give you an idea of how compare with your classmates. The important idea is for you to look at where you have gaps in your awareness of an area. So for example, in the profile above the student scored above the class average. However, we are concerned that the student improve awareness in the lowest scoring portions of the GAPtest.
In the example, the student scored only scored 10 out of 18 questions for Africa. Europe and Global scores were also weak areas. You will want to establish a learning goal to understand or improve your awareness of your lowest geographic region.
I suggest the best way to do this is to travel to Africa and spend time there. This is not always possible but can be a long range learning goal. A second option is to establish a learning strategy that includes reading, viewing, and relationship building.
Below, I have provided what I consider to be the best general books on a particular context, along with websites and films or documentaries. These will be updated regularly.
